With a focal length equilevant to a 21mm on a full frame lens, or 89 degrees angle of view, only Fujifilm’s 8-16mm and 10-24mm offers you angles more wide than this 14mm prime. But have in mind that the former is much more expensive and more heavy to drag around, and the latter only has an aperture of f/4. If you want something bright and light, then the XF 14mm f/2.8 R is the choice for you.
But what can you use this lens for? Landscape and cityscape are two connected uses for a lens this wide, but with a focusing distance of 18 cm and very little distortion, this lens can both be great for detail shots of objects, which you want to add a surrounding narrative to, as well as architecture. It even be an interesting lens to use for street photography, even having distance marks for zoom focusing.
